Newbery Honor Book, My Father's Dragon, is a favorite of young readers and a great first chapter book. When the story begins, Elmer hears about the plight of an overworked and under appreciated baby flying dragon. He stows away on a ship and travels to Wild Island to rescue the dragon. With the help of two dozen pink lollipops, rubber bands, chewing gum and a fine-toothed comb, Elmer disarms the beasts on Wild Island and flies back home on the back of the baby dragon. The illustrations hold enough interest, while reading the chapters, for a child to make an easy transition from picture books to chapter books at bed time. It's a great read aloud for children that shouldn't be missed.
Don't miss any of the fun adventure in the two sequels.
